Ironman Quest Folding Treadmill Review

Nice, but big!
Cali Mom
The quality of this machine is nice, but I have to agree with the other review, that because of it's size, you cannot get it through a normal sized door, or move it to another room. We actually had to take a wider door completely off and the side panels of the treadmill, so we could get it to the room we wanted it to be in. The panel is huge and unless you are tall like most of my family, you can not see over the top if you plan on walking and watching television at the same time.

Easy to assemble, however difficult to get in through the door. Be sure to assemble it in the room where it will be located. After a month of use, I am very pleased with the quality. A good value for the price. The control panel is so large that it obscures your view if you want to watch TV in front of you.

Made my own home gym---love it!
Tina Rodriguez (Los Angeles, CA, USA)
I switched shifts so I cancelled my gym membership and decided to buy my own home gym...I did not have that much room in our spare room so I looked for a treadmill and bike that would take up little space. After reading reviews on Consumer Reports and Treadmill Dcotor I decided to buy the TR 2000-HRC treadmill. I love it! I can go uphill and downhill, it is super quiet and it gives me the same running surface size as the other treadmills I was looking at but does not have the hood in the front (which I always kicked at the gym!) and takes up more than a foot less space! I have been using it for about 2 months now 4 to 5 days per week and would recommend it not only for the small size but for the quality!

GREAT Treadmill lives up to its awards!
S. Sweitzer (Wilmington, DE)

I purchased this treadmill based on the awards and TV shows that I saw this unit featured for its small footprint. I have limited space in my townhome and have been looking for a folding treadmill that I could jog on. This has been a great unit and I LOVE the ability to walk uphill or downhill!

Anyone looking for a folding treadmill that takes up little space and has a great warranty and bells/whistles...this is your unit.

Awesome Treadmill
Geoffrey Fischer (Centennial, CO)
Everything about this treadmill is AWESOME! Very little assembly and went together quick! Great Warranty! Great Features! The decline feature allows me to walk up and downhill and I love that I can change the speed and incline on the handlebars! I can see why this treadmill has the awards that it does! Glad I bought this unit.

Sole F80 Treadmill 2008 Model Review

Great Treadmill - Solid Piece of Equipment!
anonymous (Poulsbo, WA)
I researched many of the same brands that were listed in prior reviews and decided to go with Sole F80. I ordered directly from Sole, since they're not sold in WA state, and the closest Dick's Sporting Good store was in OR and to far to drive too to look at their floor model. I did call them and the F80s were sold out. When I ordered my F80, it shipped the next day, with free shipping & no taxes (at least for WA state), and I got it within a week.

We assembled it within an hour, the instructions are not the best, as others have said, but we were able to figure it out by looking at the diagrams in the manual, but make sure to read through the manual for safety instructions. We set it up in the garage and our garage floor was not level, so we put a shim on one side to level it, and after that it was rock sold. It really is a solid piece of equipment! I wanted something solid, with a good warranty, good deck, quite, didn't need all the bells & whistles - that some other brands offered, and this treadmill more than exceeds my expectations.

I have RA and can't believe how much better my feet feel after a work out on the Sole F80, unlike my old treadmill where my feet would throb really bad afterwards. I'm 5'1" and the fan works great for me, I just tilted the vents inward all the way. The motor is super quite, compared to my old treadmill. My husband, who's 6' 2" with long legs, got on the treadmill to see how it fit him and he had no problems walking or jogging on it, but for someone who's tall like him, with long strides, they might consider the F85 with the longer deck.

As far as Features, other reviewers have already written about it, so I won't dwell on it, but it has more features than I'd ever use. I'm pretty simple, I hit the start button, set my speed & go, and I do use the incline, which I love. It's amazing how time flies on the Sole F80.

The only criticism I have, is with the speakers, they could be better, but again I wasn't looking for bells & whistles, so I won't mark off for that.

I tested this treadmill out at Dick's Sporting Goods before purchasing and I am very happy with it. I've had it for a month now and I run on it 5 days a week, 3 - 5 miles each time. It feels sturdy and strong, and even though the running deck isn't as long/wide as a gym treadmill it is still comfortable to run on.

The fold up/down feature is nice, although lifting it at first is quite heavy. Once you get it going it is pretty easy. Folding it down is really easy - it pretty much folds down by itself.

I only have a few gripes about this treadmill:
- there is no number pad on the display. There are 6 preset speed buttons, if they aren't the speed you desire you have to continuously hit the up/down buttons to get to the speed you want. You can get creative by hitting the speed button closest to the speed you want to go and then hit up/down from there. A number pad would be nicer.
- the built in fans are not meant for a short person. I am 5 feet, 0 inches and the fans do not rotate down enough. They seem to aim right above my head.
- the workout time on the display only counts down. I know this is really picky, but every treadmill I've ever run on the time display counts from 0 to the programmed time (which also usually allows you to keep going past the programmed workout time).

Those are my only gripes. I would still purchase the treadmill because of the quality and price.

Sole F85 Treadmill 2008 Model Review

Worth Every Penny!
H. Balke
I purchased the Sole F85 treadmill on 6/25/08 directly from Sole and took advantage of the free shipping they offer. They shipped it out the next day and I received it on 7/1/08 in perfect condition. It was incredibly easy to put together, it took about 30 minutes to do. I've used it everyday since it arrived. I walk 4-5 miles per day at 8-10 degree incline and so far no worries. I used to get terrible shin splints with my old treadmill at half the speed and no incline but since I've started walking on this machine I haven't had a single twinge of pain. No regrets on this purchase what so ever!

The only negatives I can really come up with are the built in fans and H.R. display. Because I'm only 5' tall the fans can't be adjusted low enough to hit me. No biggie. The other thing is the with the H.R. display. When I wear my Polar H.R. monitor it comes up on the LCD display but is inaccurate. Off by up to +20 bpm in comparison to the Polar H.R. setup I wear. Since I use a Polar monitor it really isn't an issue with me but could be an issue for others.

Pros:

Warranty

Reputation

Very quite...Just a slight wooshing sound of the belt turning.

Controls on handles for speed and incline. Very easy to adjust on the move.

3.5 HP motor

Folds and unfolds effortlessly.

Cons:

Fans
H.R.display

Made for a runner
George W. Plesa (Pine Mountain Club, Ca United States)
I have a late 2006 model which is identical to the 2008 model as far as the specs. There has been a slight cosmetic design change but nothing drastic. My wife and I have been running and walking on this machine for over a year and a half and we've had no problems. The heart rate monitors could be better but I'm not convinced any of the treadmills offer anything more accurate. They get you in the ballpark. The warranty is what really matters and few machines match Sole's much less alone exceed it. The best site for unbiased treadmill reviews is www.treadmilldoctor.com . I've spoken with Sole on several occasions and the customer support is superb. No overseas call center and instant response from a company that wants your business.

Horizon Fitness T82 Treadmill Review

Excellent Quality
Rita K. Farro (Princeton, Iowa)
My first treadmill was the typical cheapo from a discount store. It quit working. This time, I did some research because I was now willing to spend some money. Horizon won, hands down. And I chose the T-82 because it had a bigger motor. It weighs nearly 200 pounds, so getting it in the house and then putting it together was a challenge. But the directions were concise and each assembly step had it's own hardware bag.

I love it, love it, love it. It is extremely smooth and quiet. It is very substantial -- and the cushioning system makes walking easy on the knees.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the programs. They are both too much and too little. For example, during my workout, I am often interrupted by people and phone calls...and even if I leave the key on -- after less than a minute -- all my numbers disappear.

Perfect for what I need
elric (Florida)
I have waited for atleast alittle over a month before I leave a review. Going on my 5th week now. I looked at many other models but ultimately went for price and reviews. I have been running 5 days a week on this machine. It is very simple to use as you can easily switch from time to distance, by a push of a button. I always vary my run with inclines and have been gradually increasing speed as I train. I do not notice any problems at all, this machine does what it needs to do. I at times use the fan, which has 3 settings I never had to go above 2, works well. I did buy a matt for the bottom, which is recommended. I have it set up in my room, which will be noisier than a gym when on it. I do turn on my tv and honestly am not bothered by it. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and watch the VIDEO that is on the Horizon page with the treadmill and it is exactly what you will get. especially for the price, I got an etxra $100 off, so for $699 I am totally glad. I've been running in Ballys for years and also other gyms and must say this machine for a home only is definately a must have. Just remember to follow care intructions and make sure you always wax under belt to keep it in top shape!!!!!!

Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill Review

Get back into shape using bowflex treadmill series 5!
Debbie (Rural Nebraska, USA)
We live in the country on the great plains. Keeping in shape during
the spring and summer is easy, but when the cold winds and snow start
to blow across the prairie, it is impossible to walk the 2 to 3 miles
that I do during the warmer season. I've wanted a treadmill for years,
I've tried cheaper brands that didn't work or broke after a few months.
This is the absolutely best product that I've ever walked on. I've only
had it about 2 weeks, but have already lost several pounds and my jeans
are getting looser, so I know the inches are coming off. The features
that this machine has is superb! A fan to cool you off, two places for
water or gatorade. For an intense workout, set the incline higher. I do
want to mention, that this is a huge machine, it is not for a small space,
even though it is possible to fold-up the deck, it is very, very heavy,
so it will be great to clean under, but not to store away between uses,
as it weighs almost 300 pds. We also have a bowflex weight machine and
now have turned a small spare bedroom into a workout room, next we are
planning to put a flat-screen tv in there, so that will be an incentive
to not be a couch potatoes and to workout and watch our favorite shows and
movies, and get into shape during the long cold winter. If you do choose
to order this product, and choose free shipping, it will take 3 to 4 weeks
to get the machine. But it will save you around $200 for the free shipping
and well worth the wait.

BOWFLEX JUST LIKE THE ONES IN GOLD'S OR BALLY'S GYM...
MULAN_2003 (APO AE, US ARMY)
For the price, it's outstanding. I based my decision off the already listed reviews for this item (THANK YOU AMAZON FELLOW CUSTOMERS) and the lady who said it was delivered to your threshold and that's it. That's right in the doorway. I followed the advise exact. I opened the box. First you take up the two smaller pieces and all the plastic hand guards and end pieces. Then the one thing I did differently is when it came to the base (which is the piece that weighs about 200 lbs), I enlisted the help of three other people (so two on each side) and it was very easy. So you don't need to hire any moving company or installation crew if you have some friends to help you on delivery day.

The rest of the set up was very easy (by following the instruction book). Total time was no more than 45 minutes as long as you have no issues like the one I mention at the end of this paragraph. Now there is one small thing that was confusing, it calls for 22 one of type of screw and your package only has 18. The instructions must be made for setting up the BOWFLEX 5 or 7 treadmill because all of the screws worked out perfectly. I was not short any screws. So no need to panic when you read the instructions and see the screw count doesn't match. OH AND DON'T REMOVE THE WIRE/STRING THAT IS CLIPPED INSIDE LEFT BAR. THE WIRE IS TO HELP YOU PULL/GUIDE THE WIRE CONNECTION to the console/control. I TOOK IT OFF IN THE BEGINNING AND I SPENT PROBABLY 30 MINUTES TRYING TO PUT IT BACK IN!

One last note, the handrails on this treadmill are shorter than what you would find at the commercial ones in the gym. THAT is the only downside, not a big deal for me but something you may want to consider if you are someone who likes to hang on to the rail while you walk or run.
great for quiet walking
Clarktx (Too Close to Civilization)
I have to say this is a great product. What surprised me, and 4 other people I have shown it to, is how QUIET it is. Sure it hums. But its much quieter than its contemporaries. You can watch TV without headphones, for example, or talk to people, or whatever. Very quiet.

Its great for walking. The deck is a bit short for me to feel comfortable running (I'm 6'1") but my wife has a much shorter stride. But I only walk anyway as explained in the next paragraph.

As a side note, I made a monitor mount, and put a 19" LCD on the front (the three series lacks the center fan, so its ok). Then I put a brace over the handlebars for the keyboard and thus - I type while I walk. or do any other computer related work (anything artistic is impossible, but browsing, email, etc is very easy). I can get in up to 15 miles of walking a day that way. Otherwise, i wouldn't have time to walk. (I office from home, by the way).
