Ironman Quest Folding Treadmill Review
Nice, but big!
Cali Mom
The quality of this machine is nice, but I have to agree with the other review, that because of it's size, you cannot get it through a normal sized door, or move it to another room. We actually had to take a wider door completely off and the side panels of the treadmill, so we could get it to the room we wanted it to be in. The panel is huge and unless you are tall like most of my family, you can not see over the top if you plan on walking and watching television at the same time.
Heavy Duty Treadmill
E. Neblina
Easy to assemble, however difficult to get in through the door. Be sure to assemble it in the room where it will be located. After a month of use, I am very pleased with the quality. A good value for the price. The control panel is so large that it obscures your view if you want to watch TV in front of you.

LifeSpan Fitness TR 2000 HRC Treadmill Review
Made my own home gym---love it!
Tina Rodriguez (Los Angeles, CA, USA)
I switched shifts so I cancelled my gym membership and decided to buy my own home gym...I did not have that much room in our spare room so I looked for a treadmill and bike that would take up little space. After reading reviews on Consumer Reports and Treadmill Dcotor I decided to buy the TR 2000-HRC treadmill. I love it! I can go uphill and downhill, it is super quiet and it gives me the same running surface size as the other treadmills I was looking at but does not have the hood in the front (which I always kicked at the gym!) and takes up more than a foot less space! I have been using it for about 2 months now 4 to 5 days per week and would recommend it not only for the small size but for the quality!
GREAT Treadmill lives up to its awards!
S. Sweitzer (Wilmington, DE)
I purchased this treadmill based on the awards and TV shows that I saw this unit featured for its small footprint. I have limited space in my townhome and have been looking for a folding treadmill that I could jog on. This has been a great unit and I LOVE the ability to walk uphill or downhill!
Anyone looking for a folding treadmill that takes up little space and has a great warranty and bells/whistles...this is your unit.
Awesome Treadmill
Geoffrey Fischer (Centennial, CO)
Everything about this treadmill is AWESOME! Very little assembly and went together quick! Great Warranty! Great Features! The decline feature allows me to walk up and downhill and I love that I can change the speed and incline on the handlebars! I can see why this treadmill has the awards that it does! Glad I bought this unit.

Sole F80 Treadmill 2008 Model Review
Great Treadmill - Solid Piece of Equipment!
anonymous (Poulsbo, WA)
I researched many of the same brands that were listed in prior reviews and decided to go with Sole F80. I ordered directly from Sole, since they're not sold in WA state, and the closest Dick's Sporting Good store was in OR and to far to drive too to look at their floor model. I did call them and the F80s were sold out. When I ordered my F80, it shipped the next day, with free shipping & no taxes (at least for WA state), and I got it within a week.
We assembled it within an hour, the instructions are not the best, as others have said, but we were able to figure it out by looking at the diagrams in the manual, but make sure to read through the manual for safety instructions. We set it up in the garage and our garage floor was not level, so we put a shim on one side to level it, and after that it was rock sold. It really is a solid piece of equipment! I wanted something solid, with a good warranty, good deck, quite, didn't need all the bells & whistles - that some other brands offered, and this treadmill more than exceeds my expectations.
I have RA and can't believe how much better my feet feel after a work out on the Sole F80, unlike my old treadmill where my feet would throb really bad afterwards. I'm 5'1" and the fan works great for me, I just tilted the vents inward all the way. The motor is super quite, compared to my old treadmill. My husband, who's 6' 2" with long legs, got on the treadmill to see how it fit him and he had no problems walking or jogging on it, but for someone who's tall like him, with long strides, they might consider the F85 with the longer deck.
As far as Features, other reviewers have already written about it, so I won't dwell on it, but it has more features than I'd ever use. I'm pretty simple, I hit the start button, set my speed & go, and I do use the incline, which I love. It's amazing how time flies on the Sole F80.
The only criticism I have, is with the speakers, they could be better, but again I wasn't looking for bells & whistles, so I won't mark off for that.
Recommended!

I tested this treadmill out at Dick's Sporting Goods before purchasing and I am very happy with it. I've had it for a month now and I run on it 5 days a week, 3 - 5 miles each time. It feels sturdy and strong, and even though the running deck isn't as long/wide as a gym treadmill it is still comfortable to run on.
The fold up/down feature is nice, although lifting it at first is quite heavy. Once you get it going it is pretty easy. Folding it down is really easy - it pretty much folds down by itself.
I only have a few gripes about this treadmill:
- there is no number pad on the display. There are 6 preset speed buttons, if they aren't the speed you desire you have to continuously hit the up/down buttons to get to the speed you want. You can get creative by hitting the speed button closest to the speed you want to go and then hit up/down from there. A number pad would be nicer.
- the built in fans are not meant for a short person. I am 5 feet, 0 inches and the fans do not rotate down enough. They seem to aim right above my head.
- the workout time on the display only counts down. I know this is really picky, but every treadmill I've ever run on the time display counts from 0 to the programmed time (which also usually allows you to keep going past the programmed workout time).
Those are my only gripes. I would still purchase the treadmill because of the quality and price.

Worth Every Penny!
H. Balke
I purchased the Sole F85 treadmill on 6/25/08 directly from Sole and took advantage of the free shipping they offer. They shipped it out the next day and I received it on 7/1/08 in perfect condition. It was incredibly easy to put together, it took about 30 minutes to do. I've used it everyday since it arrived. I walk 4-5 miles per day at 8-10 degree incline and so far no worries. I used to get terrible shin splints with my old treadmill at half the speed and no incline but since I've started walking on this machine I haven't had a single twinge of pain. No regrets on this purchase what so ever!
The only negatives I can really come up with are the built in fans and H.R. display. Because I'm only 5' tall the fans can't be adjusted low enough to hit me. No biggie. The other thing is the with the H.R. display. When I wear my Polar H.R. monitor it comes up on the LCD display but is inaccurate. Off by up to +20 bpm in comparison to the Polar H.R. setup I wear. Since I use a Polar monitor it really isn't an issue with me but could be an issue for others.
Pros:
Warranty
Reputation
Very quite...Just a slight wooshing sound of the belt turning.
Controls on handles for speed and incline. Very easy to adjust on the move.
3.5 HP motor
Folds and unfolds effortlessly.
Cons:
Fans
H.R.display
Made for a runner

I have a late 2006 model which is identical to the 2008 model as far as the specs. There has been a slight cosmetic design change but nothing drastic. My wife and I have been running and walking on this machine for over a year and a half and we've had no problems. The heart rate monitors could be better but I'm not convinced any of the treadmills offer anything more accurate. They get you in the ballpark. The warranty is what really matters and few machines match Sole's much less alone exceed it. The best site for unbiased treadmill reviews is www.treadmilldoctor.com . I've spoken with Sole on several occasions and the customer support is superb. No overseas call center and instant response from a company that wants your business.

Horizon Fitness T82 Treadmill Review
Excellent Quality
Rita K. Farro (Princeton, Iowa)
My first treadmill was the typical cheapo from a discount store. It quit working. This time, I did some research because I was now willing to spend some money. Horizon won, hands down. And I chose the T-82 because it had a bigger motor. It weighs nearly 200 pounds, so getting it in the house and then putting it together was a challenge. But the directions were concise and each assembly step had it's own hardware bag.
I love it, love it, love it. It is extremely smooth and quiet. It is very substantial -- and the cushioning system makes walking easy on the knees.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the programs. They are both too much and too little. For example, during my workout, I am often interrupted by people and phone calls...and even if I leave the key on -- after less than a minute -- all my numbers disappear.
Perfect for what I need
elric (Florida)
I have waited for atleast alittle over a month before I leave a review. Going on my 5th week now. I looked at many other models but ultimately went for price and reviews. I have been running 5 days a week on this machine. It is very simple to use as you can easily switch from time to distance, by a push of a button. I always vary my run with inclines and have been gradually increasing speed as I train. I do not notice any problems at all, this machine does what it needs to do. I at times use the fan, which has 3 settings I never had to go above 2, works well. I did buy a matt for the bottom, which is recommended. I have it set up in my room, which will be noisier than a gym when on it. I do turn on my tv and honestly am not bothered by it. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and watch the VIDEO that is on the Horizon page with the treadmill and it is exactly what you will get. especially for the price, I got an etxra $100 off, so for $699 I am totally glad. I've been running in Ballys for years and also other gyms and must say this machine for a home only is definately a must have. Just remember to follow care intructions and make sure you always wax under belt to keep it in top shape!!!!!!

Bowflex Series 5 Treadmill Review
Get back into shape using bowflex treadmill series 5!
Debbie (Rural Nebraska, USA)
We live in the country on the great plains. Keeping in shape during
the spring and summer is easy, but when the cold winds and snow start
to blow across the prairie, it is impossible to walk the 2 to 3 miles
that I do during the warmer season. I've wanted a treadmill for years,
I've tried cheaper brands that didn't work or broke after a few months.
This is the absolutely best product that I've ever walked on. I've only
had it about 2 weeks, but have already lost several pounds and my jeans
are getting looser, so I know the inches are coming off. The features
that this machine has is superb! A fan to cool you off, two places for
water or gatorade. For an intense workout, set the incline higher. I do
want to mention, that this is a huge machine, it is not for a small space,
even though it is possible to fold-up the deck, it is very, very heavy,
so it will be great to clean under, but not to store away between uses,
as it weighs almost 300 pds. We also have a bowflex weight machine and
now have turned a small spare bedroom into a workout room, next we are
planning to put a flat-screen tv in there, so that will be an incentive
to not be a couch potatoes and to workout and watch our favorite shows and
movies, and get into shape during the long cold winter. If you do choose
to order this product, and choose free shipping, it will take 3 to 4 weeks
to get the machine. But it will save you around $200 for the free shipping
and well worth the wait.

BOWFLEX JUST LIKE THE ONES IN GOLD'S OR BALLY'S GYM...
MULAN_2003 (APO AE, US ARMY)
For the price, it's outstanding. I based my decision off the already listed reviews for this item (THANK YOU AMAZON FELLOW CUSTOMERS) and the lady who said it was delivered to your threshold and that's it. That's right in the doorway. I followed the advise exact. I opened the box. First you take up the two smaller pieces and all the plastic hand guards and end pieces. Then the one thing I did differently is when it came to the base (which is the piece that weighs about 200 lbs), I enlisted the help of three other people (so two on each side) and it was very easy. So you don't need to hire any moving company or installation crew if you have some friends to help you on delivery day.
The rest of the set up was very easy (by following the instruction book). Total time was no more than 45 minutes as long as you have no issues like the one I mention at the end of this paragraph. Now there is one small thing that was confusing, it calls for 22 one of type of screw and your package only has 18. The instructions must be made for setting up the BOWFLEX 5 or 7 treadmill because all of the screws worked out perfectly. I was not short any screws. So no need to panic when you read the instructions and see the screw count doesn't match. OH AND DON'T REMOVE THE WIRE/STRING THAT IS CLIPPED INSIDE LEFT BAR. THE WIRE IS TO HELP YOU PULL/GUIDE THE WIRE CONNECTION to the console/control. I TOOK IT OFF IN THE BEGINNING AND I SPENT PROBABLY 30 MINUTES TRYING TO PUT IT BACK IN!
One last note, the handrails on this treadmill are shorter than what you would find at the commercial ones in the gym. THAT is the only downside, not a big deal for me but something you may want to consider if you are someone who likes to hang on to the rail while you walk or run.

great for quiet walking
Clarktx (Too Close to Civilization)
I have to say this is a great product. What surprised me, and 4 other people I have shown it to, is how QUIET it is. Sure it hums. But its much quieter than its contemporaries. You can watch TV without headphones, for example, or talk to people, or whatever. Very quiet.
Its great for walking. The deck is a bit short for me to feel comfortable running (I'm 6'1") but my wife has a much shorter stride. But I only walk anyway as explained in the next paragraph.
As a side note, I made a monitor mount, and put a 19" LCD on the front (the three series lacks the center fan, so its ok). Then I put a brace over the handlebars for the keyboard and thus - I type while I walk. or do any other computer related work (anything artistic is impossible, but browsing, email, etc is very easy). I can get in up to 15 miles of walking a day that way. Otherwise, i wouldn't have time to walk. (I office from home, by the way).

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill Review
Solid build and performance for the price.
Brian Grzymkowski (Montclair, NJ)
I put a lot of time into researching treadmills and their relative cost because my room mates and my girlfriend all felt I was crazy in the first place for considering one on my budget.
I knew the treadmills at hotels & gyms had spoiled me, because I had no interest in a flimsy model that offered little support and lackluster features. I also knew there was no way I could afford a $3,000 gym caliber treadmill. I felt this was the best compromise and I have not been disappointed with my decision.
The delivery was prompt, but it went no further than the bottom of the outside stairs to my 2nd floor apartment. Thanks to previous reviewers, I expected this. I can tell you that I weigh 160 lbs. and my room mate is about 210 lbs. We're both 26 and carrying this behemoth up a very steep and angled flight of stairs between us was nothing short of miraculous. It cost him a severely bruised big toe. I would recommend no fewer than 3 healthy and reasonably strong individuals to attempt this.
We have neighbors below us, and hardwood floors, so noise and protection was a concern. I had purchased a "heavy duty" extra long mat which helped protect the floor, but was not enough to muffle the inevitable thumping sound. I purchased an additional set of interlocking foam gym floor pieces that I placed over the mat and I found the two together made it as sound proof as we could manage within reason.
Assembly is never fun, and this was no exception, but given the size of the item, it was relatively painless. Thankfully, one of my room mates is an engineer, so between the both of us we managed it in under an hour.
I have had the treadmill for a few months now and I am very pleased with its overall performance. It is relatively quiet compared to some of the other models I have used. The range of features meets and exceeds my needs. I have not noticed the general knee/ankle discomfort that can come with a worn/low quality treadmill so far. I generally run 3 miles 3 times a week. The display is a bit illogical in some regards, but having to wait a few seconds for the distance to show up again in the cycle of calories, time, and pace is hardly a make or break point for me. The fan is underpowered and close to useless, but I do feel a slight breeze and I suppose I probably would not want a powerful fan blowing in my face the whole time I ran anyway.
That it is able to fold up quite easily and still feel as solid as a gym model is a testament to its construction. The flaws are minor and the performance is a deal at this price in my opinion.
Pleased with the Bowflex Series 7
M. Hutchcraft (Florida)
We purchased the Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill to help us with our exercise routines. We did lots of research, and this one rated very highly. We have not been disapointed with our purchase. Between my wife and I, we use it to run about 5 miles a day, and have lots of great things to say. It is solid and doesn't move around. The motor is very strong, and doesn't even flinch when I use it (at 205 lbs). The instant speed and incline buttons are great! The width and length of the belt are fantastic, and even at 6'4", have never felt like I was running off the end of the belt.
The down sides (which are minor, but worth noting) include the following: If you change your program in the middle, there is no way to back out without turning off the machine. If you are tall, you can't see the display that shows where you are on the digital "track". The pre-programmed speeds may not be for everyone. For instance, in program 4 (Fat Burn), the "jog" speed is 4 MPH, which is too slow for a run, but too fast for a comfortable walk. The "run" speed is 5, which could probably be a little faster. The fan is a good thought, but underwhelms you. The machine is big and heavy - so, unless you are really comfortable "hefting" things around, you might want to pay to have the machine delivered to its final location.
Delivery occured in about 7 days. They called the day before to arrange a delivery time, and actually showed up at that time.
All things considered, I would rate the machine and our purchase experience an "A".

Treadmill Parts Fixing Your Exercise Equipment
By Dean Iggo
Purchasing treadmill parts can save you the hassle and the cost of buying a new machine. In order to decide which treadmill parts are right for you, though, you will need to decide what is wrong with your current treadmill. Replacement of certain parts may be required, and repair of other parts may help fix your machine. It is best to consult the diagram of your treadmill in your owner's manual before you undergo any kind of repairs.
Where Can I Get Parts For My Treadmill?
Treadmill parts are available in a number of different locations. Your local exercise outlet may carry parts for your brand, whether it be Proform, Nordic Trac, Sears, or something else entirely. If you do not have a nearby exercise equipment outlet, you may have to turn to the internet to find parts for your treadmill. There are a number of websites dedicated to the sale of parts for treadmills and other exercise equipment pieces like the Total Gym.
Where Do I Start?
When you get ready to repair your treadmill, there are several places to check for problems. The best place to start looking is the belt and the deck. Each step described will, of course, depend on the model and brand you have. To check out the deck and the belt, you must loosen the tension roller. Be careful, though. If you get it too loose, you will lose the bolts out of the roller shaft. Next, inspect the belt itself for a smooth, consistent feel. Any uneven wear or potential seam failure requires a complete replacement of the belt. The deck should also be very smooth.
You may also want to test your treadmill's motor. You can do this by hooking a battery into the treadmill's power supply. You can use a cordless drill battery, a car battery, or a lantern battery. Checking the roller sleeve is also a good idea. On a number of treadmills, the drive roller has a traction sleeve that helps the belt operate at a lower level to prolong the life of the machine. The sleeve can slip off to one side, causing problems with the treadmill itself.

Treadmill Guide
Start Moving With Manual Treadmills
By Peter Clark
Although manual treadmills are much cheaper than motorized treadmills, and are quite popular, they do not have many of the features that people like to see on their exercise equipment. You do get a good workout from manual treadmills, but you also have to supply all the power needed to get them going. Your lower body gets the really good workout that you need to strengthen your leg muscles and glutes.
A manual treadmills review is helpful, especially if you are new to treadmills and are not sure that you want to spend the higher amount of money on a motorized model. If you ask a regular user his/her opinion on manual treadmills, you will probably hear a list of the reasons why you should not buy one. The cons of this type of manual treadmill include:
· It is hard to get the belt started when you first get on a manual treadmill and this could cause undue stress on your joints.
· You might have to do adjustments on the incline level of the treadmill in order to have a comfortable workout.
· Once you get the belt moving on a manual treadmill and decide you want a different incline level, you have to stop and get off to make the adjustments.
· The speed of the manual treadmill depends on how fast or slow you go.
These are not major problems and if you really want to start with this type of treadmill, they shouldn’t pose a lot of problems. It is only when you get used to using the treadmill on a regular basis that you will decide to upgrade to a motorized model. For your initial purchase, you show read a manual treadmills review to get a reliable brand and model. There are many models on the market, but you need to get one that won’t cause you a lot of headaches with breakdowns and hard to adjust mechanisms.
To get started, you should compare the features available in manual treadmills and read what different consumers have to say about each one. The main opinion on a manual treadmill is that it is great for small places, such as an apartment because it is generally a bit smaller than the standard motorized machine. Most of the manual models can also fold, so that you can fold it up when you’re finished exercising and store it out of the way in a closet or under the bed. When someone asks how you lost the weight or toned up your muscles, you can just smile and say “It’s a secret”.
Manual treadmills are not perfect, but they do have their advantages.

Treadmill Manual
How To Find The Best Recommended Treadmill's
By Tim Gorman
In today's increasingly fitness orientated world, treadmills can be an easy and convenient way to exercise without spending hours running around busy streets or parks allowing you the opportunity to acquire and maintain a good level of fitness even if you choose to exercise while watching a favorite soap opera or day time talk show. Treadmills can be expensive and before purchasing one it is highly recommended and necessary to make sure that it is both within your financial budget and that the treadmill is capable of meeting your fitness needs, expectations and desires. There are many ways to find out which are the best recommended treadmills, to include reading exercise magazines and visiting fitness orientated web sites. Many of these include a exercise machine review section which will guide you towards the best machine for your price range.
Some of the more upscale and expensive treadmills come with a large amount of extra features, which although useful if you use them, are not entirely necessary and could mean that you may be paying more than you need to when buying your treadmill. However, if you want a more expansive machine some treadmills do come with features, which can be extremely useful and are well worth paying the extra money for when it comes time to pay. Many of the best recommended treadmills come with added safety features and pushbutton controls, which are much more convenient than on some of the cheaper or less well designed machines.
Depending on your budget, and the range of features that you require you can pay as a little as $300 or less or over $1000 for a treadmill. Whether you are looking to buy the cheaper or the more expensive option it is still worth researching the best recommended treadmills in your price range. Even some of the cheap treadmills, although not as sophisticated as their more expensive rivals, are built to a good standard and are perfectly adequate for normal daily use. One particular feature that you definitely want to check on is the length of the manufactures warranty, which in some cases can be as little as 90 days.
When you're looking at the reviews for the best recommended treadmills another important consideration is the stability of the treadmill itself. If the running belt is to narrow this places your feet in an awkward position and doesn't position them to be far enough apart allowing you to run safely and in a stable fashion. Additionally, if you're constantly concentrating on maintaining stability, then it will make the whole process of exercise a good deal more tiring, stressful and less enjoyable. You want to also be sure to double check the recommended or allowable weight limit on the treadmill machines that you are considering purchasing, especially on some of the cheaper models. Of course this won't be a problem if you don't weigh very much, but if you're heavier and looking to start running in order to reduce your weight it could be important to know if the weight limit for the machine is very low in order to prevent any sports or running injury from taking place.
Whether you are spending $300 or $1000 on a treadmill or indoor running machine it is important to make sure that you get good value for your money and that the machine will do what you require safely and effectively. In order to meet this requirement it is worth taking a little time and trouble to check through the various web sites and magazines to make sure that the machine you are thinking of buying is the best of its type at your available budget.
Some time spent researching this information before you buy will pay dividends in the long run and ensure that the machine you buy is really one of the best recommended treadmills.

Treadmill Buying,
Treadmill Guide
Fitness Savings When You Buy a Used Treadmill
By Bill Gatton
If you want to buy a used treadmill then you need to very careful in your selection. Research the product you are considering. Used treadmills are everywhere and you need to make sure you get a good deal.
Just because it's used doesn't mean it's a bargain. Treadmills, like everything else, lose value once they have been used. Depending on the age and brand of the treadmill it's re-sale value could be quite low. If you found a treadmill you are considering, look it up online and see what it is selling for there.
If the treadmill is too low, almost free, and the treadmill is a top of the line model, buyer beware. Treadmills are stolen all the time and you definitely don't want a stolen treadmill in your house. Or it could be broken. Maybe you have to use it for 20 or 30 minutes each time before the problem becomes evident.
Always get on the treadmill and try it out. Try out all the features and programs. If you are too tired to walk or run on it then let it run by itself. Make sure the slope works and that it still changes speeds.
When you purchase a used treadmill on the internet you are taking a huge risk. You can't try it out so you don't know how well it works. You can't look it over first and make sure it really has all the stuff the seller says it does. You might get pay a fortune for shipping just for the seller to say it must have gotten damaged by the shipping company.
How old is the treadmill and did the owner use it often? A treadmill that was cheap to begin with is not expected to last forever. On the other hand, commercial treadmills are made to be used everyday, all day long. You need to consider how much longer this used treadmill is expected to last.
If something does break on the treadmill you are thinking about buying how easy is it to get replacement parts? If it is an unknown manufacturer the company may have went out of business. If the treadmill is just old parts may no longer be available for that model.
So if you want to buy a used treadmill you need to consider everything involved. What is the resale value? How old is it and how much longer will it last? You don't want to be stuck with a used treadmill that you hate or it breaks and can't resale.

Finding Best Treadmill For Your Buckt
By David Faulkner
It's time to start working off those extra pounds! What's the first step? Of course, it's choosing the machine that is going to help you most comfortably and most effectively take off the weight and make you feel healthy again. Choosing the best treadmill is step #1.
But, there are tons and tons out there, all advertising the same features and claiming to be the best for your money. How do you decide which model is the best one for you? Well, before you go checking out the fancy new features, consider a few things about your own exercise needs. You have to know what you're looking for before you can find it.
Here are some things to think about that will help you find the best treadmill for you.
How Much Space Do You Have?
How much room can you afford to give up to your exercising? Treadmills are big. You might end up with half your office taken up by your exercise machine. This will help remind you that you need to exercise, which is a good thing; but constantly having it in the way might be a problem.
There are two kinds of treadmills.
Nonfolding - These treadmills are about the size of a two-person couch. That could easily take up half a room. On the other hand, the garage might be a good place to do your exercising.
Folding - These treadmills fold up so that they don't take up as much space, but they will still be pretty big, even when folded. These models are about half their size when folded. You can also buy smaller treadmills, but they may not be as good for running.
What Do You Need For Your Workout?
Will you be mostly doing brisk walking, or are you planning to do a marathon? If you are just going to do some vigorous walking, you can probably buy a simple treadmill model. Prices vary, and there's no reason to shell out so much extra cash if you're not going to be using those extra features.
Some models are more geared to running. If you plan on doing a lot of running on your treadmill, look for a model that is suited for long range running. You might also want to pay a little extra for one that is especially sturdy.
How About The Extra Features?
Do you need a robot coach shouting at you to run faster? Or a TV with surround sound speakers? Do you want extra incline features so that it feels like you're running up hill?
Modern treadmills offer lots of extra features such as memory cards, special padding, audio-visual players and settings to personalize your workout. If you don't need any of that stuff, don't pay extra for it. Look at some different models and decide what best suits your needs.
And How Much Will All This Be?
You can pay anywhere from $1500 to $3000 on a treadmill, and you can go even higher than that if you want the kind of models professional athletes train with. The price varies according to special features and quality of design. If you want to get into shape and lose a few pounds, a simpler model with a lower price tag might be more suitable for you.
There are treadmills in all shapes and sizes. Check out your local fitness store or gym and decide which model is the best treadmill for you before you buy.

Is It Better To Use An Elliptical Machine Or A Treadmill
By David Faulkner
Using an elliptical machine is so different from using a treadmill to exercise. They each offer you an excellent exercise routine but an elliptical machine will go to work on some muscle groups that the treadmill will not.
Each is great in their own special way but, they are not the same. When you are knowledgable about the variations between the two, you will be able to choose which is better for you. You might even decide to use both.
The Eliptical Machine
While evaluating the elliptical machine and the treadmill, it is apparent that the elliptical does not cause force on the joints, knees, lower part of the back, or the hips like the treadmill does.
The elliptical machine exercises the top and bottom parts of the body at the same time. This causes your heart rate to go higher quicker than the treadmill will. It also provides exercise for the leg muscles, the back muscles, the shoulder muscles, the chest muscles, and the arm muscle groups. This gives your whole body the exercise it needs.
One other advantage of this machine is the ability of being able to pedal in the opposite direction. By doing this, you are able to work the quad muscles in the bottom part of the body.
The Treadmill
The treadmill can be a great thing for working in an aerobic way. It is the choice of many individuals who do not like the elliptical machine. This is great for those who are into jogging, running, or walking. This machine is the better option. This machine will be the best for those who are starting to esercise for the first time or who are trying to work certain areas of the body. The majority of treadmills can be set for different fitness levels.
This machine gives you a choice of diverse options that the elliptical does not like, running, jogging, or walking on a slope. The treadmill does not give you a high level of intensity but, it will give you the ability to burn off the fat and raise the level of cardiovascular health.
Treadmills are still the top sellers for exercise equipment but the elliptical are closing in fast. This rise in popularity is due to the fact that gyms and spas are providing this machine for their members to use.
Either of these machines will be able to make the bones thicker, take off the fat, raise the cardio health, and boost the energy levels of the person using it. The thing to remember is that these machines will not do any good if they are not used on a routine basis at home or in the spa.
The rule of thumb for purchasing either of these is you are going to get the best if you pay for the best. The internet can give you sale prices but, the equipment may not be worth the savings. Not to mention, the shipping will more than cover what you are saving on the machine.
It does not matter which one is the best choice for you. Find one that you are willing to use more. This will ensure that you have a great machine that you like to use. You will be inclined to lose more of the excess weight and become a healthier you.

Treadmill Buying,
Treadmill Guide
Save Your Money Buy Treadmills Online
By Helen Hecker
The treadmill was one of the first pieces of home fitness equipment appealing to walkers, joggers, runners and a wide range of people.f all the various types of home exercise equipment that have come and gone, the home exercise treadmill has lasted throughout the years.
Treadmills have become the hottest home exercise equipment choice.AC motors that are found in some treadmill units run at one continuous speed and rely on a transmission to regulate speed whereas units powered by DC motors use variable voltage to regulate the speed at which the belt spins.
With treadmills you need to watch out for the impact involved when your feet hit the belt; your body absorbs up to two and a half times your body weight.
The word treadmill originally designated a type of mill which was operated by a person treading steps of a wheel to grind grain.
Safety features on a treadmill are especially important if you plan to work out alone or if you have small children who might accidentally start up the treadmill.
Adjustable inclines let you vary the steepness of a hill. Some treadmills monitor your heart by way of sensors built into the frame that are gripped by the hands, but this can only be done if you're walking not running.
Many of the treadmills available have the ability to add an incline to your workout to duplicate running or walking uphill, therefore increasing the intensity of a workout. A pre-programmed workout registers your heart rate without being connected to the treadmill by a cord or wire.
One of the key things to remember is that the larger motors tend to run cooler and usually require less repair and maintenance. The deck is the belt area on which actual running, jogging and walking take place. Folding treadmills collapse to allow for easy storage and are ideal for people without enough room for a bulky exercise machine.
If there's a treadmill you've enjoyed using regularly at your local gym or fitness center check to see if there's a home version available in your price range. Buying a treadmill online will save you both time and money.Probably the most important thing to look for in a treadmill is how sturdy it is.
Keep in mind that what feels right to you may not accommodate others around you as comfortably. Consider bringing your water bottle and towel to the treadmill store and try out their treadmills. It's best to get a treadmill that has a warranty that lasts for at least a year.
Do your research; treadmills are an important investment, regardless of the price, and if it's not right for you, you don't want to find out after you've set the treadmill up at home.
You'll want a treadmill with an aluminum or high alloy steel frame that's strong enough to support the heaviest runner who'll be using it. One indication of the likely longevity of any treadmill is to check out the length of the manufacturer's warranty; the longer the better.
Consider the cost of maintaining your treadmill as well. Treadmill manufacturers are competing for your business and price wars are creating big savings for buyers.
The first thing to consider when shopping for a home treadmill is the kind of use you need it for. The more incline variation offered in a treadmill unit, the more expensive the model will be.
If you have severe leg conditions, a treadmill may not be the best choice of home exercise equipment for you. Better quality treadmills provide excellent cushioning to limit the impact on knees, ankles, hips and lower backs.
As you increase your fitness levels, a quality treadmill will continue to assist your exercise needs as you progress to light jogging or to running. Running or walking on a treadmill can be an effective way to workout compared to other complex cardiovascular exercises.
For most people buying a home exercise treadmill is going to be a major investment. A treadmill is a good investment for anyone who has decided to make a conscious effort to become healthy and fit.
With help from treadmill reviews and treadmill ratings you can find the treadmill that matches your fitness requirements at the cheapest or lowest price possible and be sure you're buying from a reliable and trustworthy supplier.

Treadmill Guide
Should You Buy A Manual Treadmill?
By Robin O'Brien
So, you want to buy a treadmill but are unsure if you should buy a motorized or manual treadmill? It's a good question. Not only is there a considerable price differential between them; a manual machine is lighter, smaller and easier to store. But, will it give you the workout you want?
A good quality motorized machine starts at $1,500 but you can buy a top of the range manual machine for only $600, with some cheap manual models starting at around $100. Many people are on a low budget or are unsure if they can justify spending thousands on a piece of exercise equipment and because one can buy a cheap manual treadmill these machines seem like an attractive proposition - at least to many who have never owned a treadmill before.
But it isn't just the price of a manual machine that is attractive. There are also much lighter than their motorized counterparts, as there's no motor. They also tend to be smaller and easier to fold and store away. So, for those with little room, they would seem to be the ideal solution.
Finally, there is one more advantage that a manual machine has over a motorized one and that is maintenance. More things can, and do, go wrong with motorized machines. However, the best manual treadmills should last for years and years with minimal maintenance, saving time and money. You should never forget about ongoing maintenance when buying any appliance and how much it's going to cost to maintain.
So, should you buy a manual treadmill?
If you're already in reasonable shape, are looking for a treadmill for walking and not running, and are perhaps looking to take a little weight off around the hips, then a manual machine is probably right for you.
Many health and fitness experts concur that manual machines are actually better for taking off extra pounds around your hips than motorized machines. The effort your legs put in to moving the treadbelt seems to be the secret.
However, manual models aren't as good at burning off calories as motorized ones. This is because a person drives the treadmill; thereby determining the speed. Unless you're really motivated what tends to happen is that you walk at a slower speed than would effectively burn off calories. With a motorized treadmill, the walker is driven by the machine. This means you run faster and for longer, thereby burning of the calories.
If you're looking for serious weight reduction, you're better off buying an electric treadmill.
Another disadvantage with manual treadmills is that you don't get many of the features you do on an electric treadmill. You don't get things like iFit compatible models that are manual. Also, you won't get other things like built-in workout programs and information rich consoles. These features are great as they can really motivate the person using the treadmill.
In conclusion, if you want a treadmill for walking only, are not looking to lose a lot of weight, don't need the 'motivational' stuff, want easy storage, and want a cheap treadmill, then a manual machine is the way to go.

Treadmill Consumer Guide
By Tim Gorman
When looking for a treadmill consumer guide, you won't have to look much farther than the Internet, or the nearest bookstore's magazine display. Just a quick online search delivered eleven different experts, folks who used their knowledge of athletics and exercise regimens to produce their own unique treadmill consumer guide.
Prevention Magazine, that well-known holistic harbinger of health, provides its own treadmill consumer guide, recommending treadmills at the low end of the price scale. The four $800-$1500 machines recommended in its study include two manufactured by Smooth, as well as the ProForm 950 SEL and the HealthRider T90.
Advanced Fitness, a site devised by manufacturer Smooth Treadmills offers its own treadmill consumer guide, which, while jam packed with helpful insight by users themselves, may not be all that objective. Users were asked to rate from 1-10 nine areas of the treadmills they used. As their part in the treadmill consumer guide, they rated cushioning, smoothness, noise level, stability, warranty and the level of service offered by the manufacturer. In this treadmill consumer guide the equipment was divided into three price ranges - economy, mid-range and premium. What brings this study into question is the fact that one of Smooth's treadmills earned top honors in all three categories.
Epinions.com provides an especially informative treadmill consumer guide. Rather than focusing on the "best of the best" Epinions' offers information about features and quality for more than 300 treadmills.
If you're a serious athlete who wants to know about high-end made-touch workout equipment you'll want to peruse the Runner's World treadmill consumer guide. Here you'll find reviews of top notch but costly models such as Nordic Track 8600, True's 540 HRC, the Pro Elite by PaceMaster and Precor's M9.33.

Treadmill Choosing Tips
By Michael Rad
When choosing a treadmill model you should first look for two things: manufacturer and warranty. If the manufacturer is an established treadmill sports distributor, then you can be half-sure of its quality. If the warranty is also high, you can be fully certain of the treadmill’s quality. If the warranty of the treadmill is high, it’s like a confidence vote given to the machine by its manufacturer. Think about it, long warranty means a low breakdown rate.
According to your personal needs, you should get information on various models and cut them from the list as you find less compatibility with your goals. Your final choice should be an exercise treadmill that is the closest to your expectations and that allows you to accomplish at least 90% of your initial set goals. Of course, the price of the treadmill might also come into play as a decisive argument. Always make sure to select a treadmill based on hard facts and relevant information, not on an emotional response.
Even if you select the best treadmill for your needs, you still need to take other things into consideration: where are you going to use it? Home fitness equipment takes space and you may need to move things around the house to make this possible. Make sure that you are not going to exercise in a crammed spot, as your performance and efficiency will be drastically reduced. Try to find a good spot for all your fitness equipment – basements are usually the number one choice with homeowners. A few dumbbells and an abs machine will not take a lot of room and still provide you with a good workout. A large treadmill, however, might give you some problems, so make sure to prepare a suitable location for it.
Another important fact that needs to be taken into consideration when choosing a treadmill is that it maintains healthy exercising conditions. One of the most important factors is the thickness and mobility of the walking deck, which needs to be of at least 3 or 4 inches thick in order to avoid causing you any pains or health problems. The walking track is also extremely important as it will have to withstand a lot of direct pressure from the person who exercises, so it needs to perform at top speed while maintaining comfort levels high. The walking track should be approximately 17 inches wide in order to provide the necessary leg room for you to exercise correctly and it should also have a length of somewhere around 50 inches to provide your body with a comfortable position.

Treadmill Buying Guide For Beginners
By Dean Iggo
Treadmills are one of the most popular pieces of exercise equipment available for the home market. Sometimes, though, a treadmill buying guide is necessary when you begin to weave your way through the options, features, and other difficulties involved in choosing a treadmill.
Things for Buyers To Consider
There are a number of different things to consider before you make your treadmill purchase. The first treadmill buying guide component is the type of motor on the model you are looking at. Treadmills come with either an AC or DC motor. Most consumer home units run on DC current. Most commercial models come with the option of either. AC motors are usually much louder, and they will require a dedicated power line. As a result, if you decide to buy a commercial model to use in your home, be sure you can run it with DC power.
The next treadmill buying guide component is the running belt. You want to consider the level of thickness in the belt with any model you buy. Models with one-ply belts tend to be cheaper, but models with two-ply belts are much stronger. The belts are a bit tougher, and they are far less likely to experience curling at the sides over the course of time.
An additional treadmill buying guide component is the type of incline adjustment. Adjusting the incline of your treadmill can change the intensity level of your workout. Some are electronic, and some are manual. The more expensive the model, the more electronic incline adjustment features you get. For example, on the most expensive models, the incline adjusts according to your target heart rate. On the least expensive models, you don't have electronic adjustment. You have to manually adjust the incline with a knob before you begin your workout.
The final treadmill buying guide component is the minimum and maximum speed of the machine. Most low end models go to around five miles per hour. Higher end models can go up to twelve miles per hour. You need to choose a model that fits your treadmill needs. For example, if you intend to use your treadmill for running, you want something that has faster speeds.
Considering all of these components is essential before you make your treadmill purchase.

Treadmill Guide
Helping You Find Cheap Treadmills For Sale
By Jenny Evans
What if you want to work out at home and get in shape, but you're on a budget? Many people would like to walk and run for exercise in the privacy of their own homes, but can't afford a new machine at full price. What are some sources of cheap treadmills?
If you're looking for an affordable treadmill to add to your home, there are quite a few places to look. Retailers like 2nd Wind and Play-It-Again Sports specialize in carrying secondhand exercise equipment. Check their store websites to check nearby locations, and call ahead to see if they have any treadmills in stock. This equipment is generally in great condition and is sold for a drastically reduced price when compared to new machines.
Check your local gyms or health clubs to see if they have any treadmills that they want to sell. Fitness clubs are constantly clearing out older machines for new ones, even though the old ones may still have many years of use left in them. They may have been used heavily, but generally they will still be in good condition and are very reasonably priced.
Looking online for deals is also a really good strategy. One of the greatest things that has sprung from the Internet, in my opinion, is the emergence of comparison shopping websites like Shopzilla and Google Shopping. Type in 'treadmill' and several results pages will pop up with treadmills for sale from vendors all over the web. You can even organize the results by price so that you can scout out the best deal on the Internet in one stop.
There are hundreds of Internet sites that specifically discounted exercise equipment. These items are from discontinued lines, refurbished machines, used machines, and new machines that were returned. Just make sure that you trust the credibility of one of these sites before buying from them.
Searching for discounts on full-price machines is also possible on the Internet. Message boards all over the web are devoted to savvy shoppers like you who hate to pay full price for anything. Finding these sites is as easy as typing 'treadmill discounts' or 'treadmill discount codes' into a search engine and seeing what pops up. Many of these message boards are for anyone to view, but others require users to open an account before viewing the promotional codes.

Treadmill Exercise
What You Should Consider When Shopping for a Treadmill
By Tim Gorman
Keeping fit and healthy is important. Some go to the gym to get their workouts; some, however, may simply incorporate exercise and activities into their daily routine. Gym memberships could be expensive, which is why many are choosing to buy exercise equipment that they can use at home.
One of the most popular home exercise equipment is the treadmill. There is a wide range of treadmill models available. You'll discover this as soon as you start shopping for one and see the selection being offered at department stores and various exercise and sports shops.
Choosing a treadmill may prove to be a very challenging and time consuming process. However, you have to start somewhere. First, decide if you want a manual treadmill or an electronic treadmill. With a manual treadmill, you power the belt with your footsteps. With an electronic or motorized treadmill, an electric motor powers the belt. In terms of cost, a manual treadmill is cheaper than an electronic treadmill. However, if you can find an electronic treadmill that is only a few hundred dollars more than a manual treadmill, you will be better off buying an electronic treadmill. If you do choose to go with an electronic treadmill, make sure to get the one that has 1.75 to 2 horsepower. An electronic treadmill with this much horsepower will serve you well for a long time.
An electronic treadmill will give you constant speed and a more thorough workout than a manual treadmill. An electronic treadmill has speed and timing settings that will help you burn calories more uniformly, whereas a manual treadmill won't be able to give you a steady workout since your speed is determined by how fast or slow you work the belt. Another disadvantage of using a manual treadmill is the strain it will put on your knees and hip joints. You ma have saved a few hundred dollars by getting a manual treadmill, but you may end up with all sorts of joint problems in the long run.
Also consider the available space you have at home when you're shopping for a treadmill. Where are you going to put the treadmill? Do you have a place to put the treadmill? If space is a constraint, a collapsible treadmill may be the best for you. You can store the treadmill when you are not using it and simply set it up when you do want to use it.
Treadmills come in many styles and types. You want to get a quality treadmill for a good price. Of course, once you've purchased a treadmill, the only way you will get the most out of it as well as reach your fitness goals is if you use it regularly.

Treadmills are a great way to run indoors without all the outside running hassles such as traffic, time constraints and bad weather. You just turn your treadmill it on and run while watching your favorite TV program or listening to your favorite music. Of course you have to choose well when it comes to finding the right treadmill in order to make sure that you buy a good exercise running machine that will be reliable and not cost a fortune to initially buy or then maintain. When choosing a treadmill there several things that you should consider, first you have to decide how much you want to pay for you new indoor running machine.
There are good deals to be had on quality treadmills if you are patient and shop carefully. Online fitness stores and shops are always worth researching. In many cases they can offer lower prices when compared to your standard brick and mortar stores, as they have a lower daily operating costs due to a lower overhead and fewer staff members to pay. There are also price comparison sites that let you choose what type of treadmill you want and then tell you where the lowest prices can be found for the particular treadmill model you're interested in purchasing. In the event that even these prices seem too high when you are choosing a treadmill then you could consider a used or refurbished model. Used treadmills can be very cheap and in most cases you can get a quality exercise machine if you are careful with your research before you buy. Refurbished models are a bit more costly but have been repaired by the factory and are usually a much better option.
When you are choosing a treadmill one thing you should first investigate and check is that it has a good solid build in the frame and a reliable and powerful motor. You also need to know that it will be comfortable for you when exercising or running on it, so you need to try it out in order to make sure that it meets your expectations on what a treadmill can and cannot accomplish. If it doesn't seem right then try another model, remember you will be spending a good amount of money in order to purchase your treadmill. When trying to find the right treadmill for your specific physical fitness needs it is a good idea to try several machines so that you can decide which is the best for you. Additionally, it is worth trying at least a few different models out as they do vary and some may seem to work better for you than others.
Also don't forget that you also need to make sure that the track is wide enough for you to run on and that it has a nice secure grip. Some models offer electronic extras, such as monitoring your heart rate when you are running. Although purchasing a treadmill machine with these extras can significantly push the price up so before making your purchase you need to decide whether you truly need them in order to get a workout on your running machine.
As you can see, it is worth doing a bit of research when choosing a treadmill as it is a considerable expense and you need to be sure that you make the right choice in order to buy the treadmill machine that fits into your budget while at the same time getting you into your optimum physical shape and health status.

Get Better Workouts With a Treadmill Heart Rate Monitor
By Chuck Cox
Have you ever had a stress test at the office of your physician or hospital? When you are put on the treadmill you have to be hooked up to all sorts of monitors to determine what your heart is doing while you exercise. Now you can do it yourself at home with a treadmill heart rate monitor that is built right into your treadmill. No more need to go to the doctor or to hook yourself up with extra equipment when you exercise. A treadmill heart rate monitor will do it all for you.
Not every treadmill comes with a heart rate monitor, though. Only the newer models, and usually the more expensive ones, have this feature. But the monitor is certainly a worthwhile feature to have on a treadmill. Using a treadmill is considered one of the best forms of cardio exercises, so if your treadmill comes with a feature for monitoring your heart rate, you should use it to make sure how your heart is doing.
Sometimes a treadmill heart rate monitor will be a strap that you wrap around your wrist while you jog on the treadmill. The strap will have a wire on it that runs back to the treadmill and you will be able to see your heart rate readings on an LCD screen. Other treadmills have the heart rate monitor on the handles or in another place where you grab the handles and hold onto them while the device checks your heart rate and then displays it for you.
Either treadmill monitor option is fairly comfortable to use; it just depends on your preference. The wrist strap has you attached to the treadmill, which some people do not like. The handle bar monitor makes you reach for it and hang on for a few seconds, which is an inconvenience for others. But you have to admit, both options are so much more comfortable than the way they do it at the doctors office.
In order to get the best use of your treadmill heart rate monitor, it is important to know your optimal heart rate before, during and after your workout. This way you can see if your workout is doing the job or if you need to step it up or slow it down a bit to achieve the best results.
It's a good idea to ask your physician what your optimal heart rate should be before, during and after a workout. Write these numbers down so you don't forget. It's a good idea to keep them posted someplace where they are easy to see during your workout. Compare the results on your heart rate monitor with these figures.
Using the treadmill monitor wisely and consistently can have a big impact on your workout and on your overall health. You can exercise smarter and get the best results more quickly with proper monitoring of your heart rate.
